Early this year I had the privilege to meet a beautiful soul and spent the day with him exploring the southern Gold coast. It was a fun day; we knew very quickly we had found a friend for life.

We were on a mission to capture some portraits that were sincere that demanded that we tapped into a vulnerable place. Through the process, we learned a lot about each other; we had a great connection; like soul brothers.

We’d made plans to travel together starting with a surf trip, which unfortunately I had to cancel, neither the less at the beginning of next year we vowed to catch up again.

When I came home that evening, I told my wife that I had met someone truly exceptional, with qualities as a human I had only met a few times in my life, kind and generous, that it was the best day I had had in a long time. From deep, meaningful conversations to joking around, at some stage, Jean and I were at the top of a tree 30-meters above the ground in lamington rainforest looking at the sunset howling like wolves into the wind and laughing our heads off.

Dear Jean I miss you

No words can describe the shock of the news of his passing.

The last thing he wrote to me a few weeks ago was “Miss you brother,” I replied. The day we meet again will be a good day brother.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and close friends.
